Another collaboration with guitar master, Joe Pepe. He came up with the acoustic guitar basis for the song, I added vocals and a very simple lead guitar part, then he added acoustic bass.
I'm really into this one.

Ay-o! Disco.
Special thanks again to Joe Pepe for saving me from the embarassment that is my attempt to play lead guitar.

No extra credit on this one besides me and whoever I'm stealing the melody and words from.

I guess I'm back on the horse.
Special thanks goes out to my man Joe Pepe (of Illimanjaro) on this one for co-writing and playing the acoustic guitar and acoustic bass.

Song 38!
Sit tight for a blockbuster rendition of this, your chosen track - it's coming soon. A pretty severe case of laringitis sort of put the recording on the backburner for the past couple of weeks, but I'm back on the mic and ready to give it to you good. I'm not gonna make any promises in terms of delivery time - I'm starting to really sound like an a$$hole when I make'em (and break'em so casually) so I'll just say that you should stay tuned because Song 38 is gonna have guest stars and drum loops and harmonies and cowbells.
Week 41, is on its way too, btw - written and nearly ready to go but, again, because of the recent laringitis - not quite ready to post. That'll be up before friday, I promise you. (old habits die hard I guess)

Thanks to my manic songwriting and recording session on Saturday, plus a show with those Jamies on Friday (and the longest and most awesome day of outside drinking in recent memory yesterday) I have no voice with which to record the winning song (# 37 for those of you too lazy to click into the last week's comments).
The tally now stands at 6 for #37 and 5 for #38 (0 for the rather embarrassing #39 - not shocking - and 0 for the almost as embarassing but equally as lyrically delusional #40).
So, I guess as long as my voice is shot, #38 still has a choice! If you care enough, pass the link along and get some feet on the ground for this one. The war isn't over yet!I project a vocal recovery by tomorrow nite, so check back on Wednesday for a final mix of the winning song! As always, thanks for listening and I'll see you on the other side of crazy...

OK, here's the deal.
I've been a sh*thead and we know this. My web hosting got a little foococked (sp?) and I basically used that as an excuse to take a many-week break from this project and I want to tell you now, that I'm fully prepared to bare your judgment.
But, I'm going to make it up to you and here's how.
I wrote and recorded 4 songs today - and I am caught up to my 40th week. They are here, below these very words. They are all very rough - dashed off moments after they were written, one track - live vocals and guitar - warts and all. A couple are good, one is possibly quite embarassing, and one of them is your favorite. Ahhhhh - here's where it gets interesting.
I will re-record one of these tomorrow afternoon and give it as full a treatment as I can possibly muster - like the good ol' days. Which one, did I hear you say? Well... that's up to YOU!
Yeah. That's right. We're doing some voting here.
So, pick a song - and I'll re-record it and have it posted by 12 midnite on Monday - just like the old days - hell, I may even have Mr. Christopher Plummer weigh in on the mix!
Leave your vote in the comments section. If I don't get any votes, I'll just pick my own fave, but it's so much more fun if we're in this together, don't you think?
Oh yeah, and voting closes tomorrow at 2pm. I know that's not much time, but I'm a sh*thead.... remember?
LYRICS (for those of you who care about that sort of thing)
Song 40
don't you get too close
i'm alive and full grown
everyone knows my name
everyone is not the same
you've been here
i can tell
all these words
know you well
don't believe what you hear
christmas comes twice a year
santa's been hiding out
santa's lost help him out
you've been here
i can tell
we're so close
but i've been low
all these words know you well
i'm afraid to tell the truth
sticky lies taste so good
everyone knows my name
everyone looks the same
Song 39

Told you this one would be on time!
It's about my Dad. But really, aren't they all, when you get right down to it?

Egregiously late again. I know I know!
My dad was in town, I caught a stomach bug, and many other minor reasons conspired together to make me a loser this week - I won't bore you with the details of all of them.
Sorry! Next week will be right on time! I promise.

I'm violating a pretty major rule with this week. I wrote the hook to this song a long ways back - months ago, in fact, but never really finished it.
I've always been into this hook and the concept behind it, particularly the turn it takes that is kind of unexpected, so I don't feel so guilty finishing it.
I'm pretty deep into this thing, so I'm allowed to cheat every once in a while, right?
