This is a fun one. I could've spent more time on the production, but I really believe it's gonna benefit greatly from some real treatment in the studio and I don't wanna blow my load just yet. The Jamie's are making a record... Have I mentioned that yet?
Angela - this one's for you. Have at it.

Listen to this week's song first and then read my take on it. I really don't want what I have to say coloring your experience.
Yeah, not my best one.

I'm just gonna come out and say it. I think this song is awesome. I think the production is pretty tight and I think the song itself has the potential to actually make people feel good (like a real pop song) not depressed and/or hopeless (like a typical Stellini song).
Part of the reason for why I'm so in love with this week's song is that in came from a pretty happy place, and if you've ever written a song, you know just how hard writing from that place can be. So, this song basically saved me from having to start an unnecessary fight with my boyfriend to churn something out this week. I susupect this is the reason why he digs it so much too.
Special thanks this week goes to Mr. Jesse Pagano for adding to my swirly-bendy-swirly solo section with a neat little slide guitar part. There are three lead parts in that solo section - 2 guitars (one of which sporting a pretty normal guitar sound, the other being Jesse's tripped out slide guitar), and the third is something else. I want you to guess what it is. Free cupcake for the first correct guess!

lyrics watching you breathe and i'm not afraid of feeling like this is what i've always wanted, well, since i cold say, 'i'm feeling like this is never gonna happen to me' can it really happen with you? watch you sink to a higher place
leaving the answer on your lazy smile i believe it when you say you wanna take me away to no particular place i believe it so i sing it and we're on our way
keep falling over in a different way feeling like this is standing up, walking into the wake of feeling like this was never gonna happen to me is it gonna happen with you? watch you float to a deeper place
leaving the answer on your fading smile i believe it when you say you wanna take me away to no particular place i believe it so i sing it and we're on our way
I'm trying to set a record for writing songs whose titles end with the word "me." I'm on the third consecutive week now, so I'm pretty stoked.
This week is one of those big production numbers - drum loops (I went a little loopy with the loops... you'll see what I mean), bass line, obnoxious many-layered vocals outro - the whole nine yards. To be honest with you, I had a lot of fun working on this one, but I'm not sure the song is actually there. I've been kind of happy lately, romantically speaking, so I'm sort of biding my time at this point, waiting for my boyfriend to piss me off so that I can write a decent song.
Either way, there's some stuff in here to enjoy. Just know that I'm not submitting this one to any songwriting contests or anything.

lyrics you can't keep up with this slow boat push it faster we got a ways to go if we get wrecked and you're not dead watch your neck on this shore
don't let'em catch you looking away
i been too long on this tight rope climbing higher it's not safe anymore don't you forget i'm in my head ready set watch me go
don't let me catch you looking away
and you got me but you never trip you never fall you got me but never once will the wheels come off you got me but you'd rather have nothing at all
i can't believe in your last show maybe next time if it don't take too long don't you forget it's in your head until it's said you can't be wrong
